Swansea Observatory

Breathing life into the redundant former Swansea observatory was the focus of our appointment by local businessman, Noah Redfern, to assist his design team.

With its sweeping coastal views and domed, balconied roof, Swansea’s observatory was an impressive building situated in a prime spot in the marina.

The five-storey building was constructed in 1988 and was run by the Swansea Astronomical Society, but had been unoccupied since 2010. Nick was asked to assist the appointed architect and engineer to give the striking property a new lease of life, which is now operating as a holiday let and café, with adjoining gallery, public observation deck and function room.
